Events Report 2020
BMW Club Gold Coast 2020 Events Report AGM 28th February 2021
January: Our Club events started with breakfast at Salacia Waters Café, we had 26 members attend. A favourite breakfast venue.
February: We drove through the hinterland to Headmaster’s Café at Beechmont. Our club was made very welcome by the Chairman and his staff, as our club was their first group booking since the bush fires. We had 21 attend.
March: to the middle of June, our club was not able to hold any events due to Covid restrictions.
June: We drove to Spring Creek Mountain café through Beaudesert to Killarney, through stunning scenery to enjoy lunch at the scenic Café. We had 26 members attending that included a lot of new members. Sadly, this was the last visit to the café, as it was sold and being held privately.
July: We enjoyed Christmas in July at St Bernard’s on Mt Tamborine, with a good member participation. We were seated in a lovely room with fireplace and Christmas tree. The food is always nice.
August: Our Club drove 3 ways around Mt Tamborine to finish at The Manor at Mt Tamborine. The Manor has a lovely room to accommodate all our club members. This event was well attended by 26 members. We did receive a storm and came home with a very dirty Bimmer!
September: Our Club drove north and met up at The Gap with plenty of time for coffee and a chat. Lunch was at the Mercure Clear Mountain Lodge. A very scenic venue with good food and wonderful views. 27 members attended.
October: Our Club was let down by Binna Burra Lodge and at the last minute The Manor at Mt Tamborine were wonderful to take our booking for 26 for lunch. Highly recommended venue.
November: Our Club did a drive through the hinterland and finished at the Gold Coast Motor Museum. The Museum is interesting, and the surrounds of the museum are well planned with a restaurant and plenty of parking. Another well attended day.
December: Our Club was invited to join Club Qld for late afternoon drinks at Foxy’s bar at the new Rydges Resort at the Gold Coast Airport. Club Qld went to a lot of trouble to set up the function room, Bruce Lynton gave a talk about some of this Motor racing experiences. A live streaming was arranged with BMW Museum in Munich. The night was good despite some hiccups with food. Quite a few members stayed the night, the Hotel is nice, and staff are great. Our club had 30 members attend.
Thank you to all who attended the above events, without participation our club cannot grow.
